iPhone Users Can Now Accept Lotus Notes Meeting Invites
Lotus Notes Traveler software provides enhanced synchronization when using Lotus Notes on the iPhone, iPod touch, and other mobile devices.
See the instructions for getting Lotus Notes pushed to Your iPhone or iPod touch.
Stony Brook recently upgraded to version 8.5.1.1 of Lotus Notes Traveler which has a feature that when enabled, allows invitees to meetings to receive meeting notices on their Apple device. The mobile user can accept, tentatively accept, or decline meeting invitations. Using the Settings application on the Apple device, the user can enable or disable meeting notice alerts by selecting the Mail, Contacts, Calendars settings and then changing New Invitation Alerts to On or Off.
There are some limitations of the meeting invitee feature. For instance:
- If you select the action Accept/Maybe/Decline from the Apple device calendar for one instance of a recurring meeting and there is no active meeting notice for that event, then this action applies to all instances of the meeting.
- If you receive a meeting notice from the Apple device that is an “update” notice, you are still presented with the actions Accept, Maybe, and Decline. This is not expected using Lotus Notes, as an update notice should only have the option to “Add to Calendar” if you were using a Lotus Notes client. Regardless of the action that you take on the iPhone, this notice will be applied to your calendar once you take any action. If you take the decline action, then the meeting will temporarily be removed from the device but will later synchronize tot he device calendar.
- Cancellation notices are processed automatically by the Lotus Notes Traveler server prior to sending the notice to the Apple device. No action is required. The notice will remain in the mail Inbox until deleted or moved to a folder.
