Student computers being brought onto the residential network (ResNet) need to have the latest Microsoft Windows updates and up-to-date anti-virus software.

Students should get in the habit of regularly running Windows Update to ensure their computer is secure with critical software patches. Some Microsoft fixes, such as operating system updates, may take up to an hour or longer to install.

Required operating system updates for Fall 2009 ResNet registration include:

Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3)
or
Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2)

Internet Explorer 8 is the required Web browser for ResNet registration.
