Residence Hall Network Upgrade Includes Wi-Fi
A major upgrade to the University’s residential computer network took place this summer. More than 250 network switches servicing 12,000 wired connections as well as installation of about 1,400 wireless access points were installed in the residence halls. The objective of this upgrade was to provide a stable, state-of-the-art network along with the introduction of wireless networking (Wi-Fi) to all residence halls called WolfieNet. The WolfieNet wireless network supports the new 802.11n standard as well as the older 802.11b/g standards.
