New Vendor for Teleconference Services
DoIT’s Telecommunications and Networking department (TelNet) has reviewed the various contracted vendors for teleconference services and has decided to recommend InterCall as the preferred vendor of choice. InterCall brings enhanced conferencing capabilities while providing significant cost savings. InterCall charges 2.75 cents per minute, while current vendor, AT&T, charges 18 cents per minute.
TelNet will be officially cancelling AT&T Conference Services in early 2009, so that users with AT&T accounts have time to transition.
InterCall Teleconference Services became available at Stony Brook in October 2008. It is a reservationless teleconferencing system that combines on-demand flexibility with a set of new, powerful, easy-to-use features. InterCall also supplies operator-assisted services to those individuals requiring larger or more high-profile teleconferences. This service is available 24/7 and can accommodate up to 125 people per conference.
InterCall will be billing departments directly via e-mail, different from how AT&T placed charges on monthly campus phone bills. Please review the InterCall payment instructions (.pdf) before signing up for this service.
To use InterCall, customers must sign up online for a Reservationless-Plus account.
- Go to http://www.intercall.com/sbu/

In order to maximize the cost savings, it is important that the Reservationless-Plus account service be utilized whenever practical.
