MS is a UNIX-based mail system that was once offered to faculty and staff. As of May 4, 2009, new accounts can no longer be requested, however, existing accounts will continue to work and be supported.

MS can be accessed:

  • E-mail clients (such as Eudora, Thunderbird or Outlook)
  • On the Web
  • Via SSH (telnet) through ms.cc.sunysb.edu
  • Pine/Alpine for text-based email

MS is used by individuals who wish to store their mail locally on the hard drive of their workstations. Support for MS is provided by Client Support at (631) 632-9800.

Although new MS accounts are no longer being generated, faculty and staff do have the option of requesting a MySBmail account. They can do this by sending an e-mail message to Sanjay Kapur in the Computing Center.
