Lotus Notes is the primary e-mail and calendaring system for faculty and staff.
MS is a UNIX-based mail system that was previously offered to faculty and staff. As of May 4, 2009, new accounts can no longer be requested, however, existing accounts will continue to work and be supported.
SharePoint is an Internet browser-based collaboration, Web-site content management, and document management system. This system supports Web-site authoring, and collaborative sites for groups such as research teams, committees and course-related activities.
SUNY/SMRT are used by department account managers to view State account allocation, expenditure and encumbrance balances and to reconcile AEPC Visa card purchases.
Stony Brook University Reporting is a "data warehouse" of PeopleSoft information. It is used by some departments to access certain Student Data Reports.
NetID is used for access to University services such as Blackboard, MySBmail, MySBfiles, ResNet, SINC Site machines and printers, SUNYSB.edu Domain, and SUNYSB.edu administrative shares.
All registered, active students have a MySBmail account for e-mail. Faculty and staff can request an account on this UNIX-based system that can be accessed by mail reader programs (Eudora, Thunderbird, Outlook, etc.) via the Web, or by Pine/Alpine for text-based e-mail.
Blackboard is a web-based course management system.
PeopleSoft is Stony Brook's Administrative technology solution for integrating information in the Student Administration areas, Human Resources, Budget, and Finance.
The RF Business System consists of the Oracle suite of grants management and human resources applications. It is used by administrative offices that conduct research activity and serve the Stony Brook research community.
Extension of certain computer accounts may be provided as a courtesy to retired employees and emeritus faculty.
